It is the mission of the Christian Counseling and Wellness Center to provide to provide quality Christian counseling and wellness services to both members of Community Church and the Big Bear community. The Center strives to foster a welcoming and encouraging environment which inspires others to work towards healing, mental, social, and spiritual. It is our vision that complete healing can only be accomplished when clients realize, accept, and intentionally place their faith in the Lord, Jesus Christ.
Community Church Big Bear is opening its new Counseling and Wellness Center October 18, 2016. The Center’s main goal is to bring into harmony mind, body, and spirit, all from a Christian standpoint. Evelyn De Villiers, PhD is a Christian psychologist who has had successful practices in New York and San Diego. Dr. De Villiers truly enjoys helping others in their healing and growth and incorporates Christian principles in her work. She has appointment times on Tuesdays for individual, couples, and family therapy. Her services will begin on October 18. A brief intake and an appointment may be arranged by calling the church office at 909 866-7523.
The Wellness part of the center is being developed by Shari Beckett, RN, BS, MA, also a Christian nurse. Blood pressure screenings will be the first Sunday / month in between services in the chapel, starting November 6th. The first workshop/support group, “Stress Busters,” will begin October 20, 10am - 12 for six weeks, skipping Thanksgiving. Shari hopes to build this ministry through recruitment of other healthcare professional volunteers in the church to expand services.
The vision of the Christian Counseling and Wellness Center is to add additional licenced therapists and therapy interns, thus adding additional counseling days and hours and to also expand the efforts of the wellness team. We envision a broader community outreach pending additional workers and network in order to increase positive mental health and the general health of our community. We will be adding various workshops and support groups, provide other health screenings, counsel regarding health matters, help with visitation of the sick, infirm, and hospitalized, act as a laison, referring to diverse mental and physical resouces, and collaborating with other healthcare providers in the general Bear Valley community.
